At the end of the day, after running around the city drawing, I sat on the stone floor here and watched the people pass through - gathering into the cafes, relaxing around the fountain in the center, playing music. After the drawing I was doing during the day, it felt leisurely to simply draw the facades that form the piazza. When I re-visited this drawing now in watercolor, I chose to mark the various paths I took in and out of the piazza with my brush. I thought the piece was finished after painting the facades - but as I laid it aside, the idea struck me and I think it really brings the feeling of life and movement in the piazza!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI made the ink drawing as an architectural history graduate student on fellowship from University of Virginia in 2012.
