The New STATE FLOWERS MAP Collection
My most recent Gig Harbor Local Maker's Market has me thinking back on my journey as an artist and designer - in last email I mentioned a customer who found my Seattle Map on Etsy 15 years ago, after recognizing it in my “Seconds” box at the market. Also in that era, I created a collection of State Maps, with a fabric line featuring the State Flowers with moda fabrics. I retired the individual State Maps featuring tree, flower and an imagined state architecture several years ago, but have felt so invigorated by growing things this season - a fresh look at florals and state flowers found me! I hope they feel fresh and hopeful to you.
I hear from military families and all kinds of families that move a lot that my maps help them create a space in their homes to honor their journeys. Just today a milspo mom with my Syracuse Map on her baby's wall (because that's where they were born) asked to commission a new map of their current post in Virginia. I love making maps I know depict a poignant time in your life and help tell your story.
Do you have a map wall - in your home, or in your mind, still?
