Glacier Lake reflects the grandeur of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park. The MOUNTAINS Collection, and this piece, is an exploration of brush + line, using the metaphorical form of MOUNTAIN to see how the marks of paintbrush and pen or pencil, with their contrasting textures, can work together to model the tactile surfaces of land.
Watercolor and ink lines collide, tangle and glide together to form the mirrored mountains that envelop Glacier Lake in black, brown and sepia tones. The background mountain is rendered in detail, with warm salmon brush strokes delineating its rugged texture - all reflected in salmon strokes in the still lake.
