BLUE RIDGE Tunnel, Rockfish Gap, Afton Virginia - Original Topographical Watercolor Map.
A confluence of routes through and along the Appalachian/Blue Ridge mountains between Charlottesville and Waynesboro Virginia inspired this Map. At Rockfish Gap, the old highway, new highway, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway/Shenandoah Drive, and the Blue Ridge Tunnel (THROUGH the mountain!) intersect. I created a composite drawing of a USPS Map and my hand-drawn topographic hachures. Printed onto watercolor paper, I used watercolor to draw up the texture of the city of Waynesboro and the farms and forests surrounding this dynamic confluence.
