JOURNEY STUDY 1
My hand-drawn topographic lines, printed onto watercolor paper, is a starting point for layering watercolor, handmade local ochre pigment, graphite lines, torn watercolor paintings. This is an Abstract Map, an experiment in creating an imagined landscape - then traversing it in thread. The path conjures the metaphor of a life of choices, non-choices, and the influence of places, people and one’s inner guide.
This Map was preparatory to my subsequent series of larger Journey Maps.
Original Watercolor/Ink/Graphite/Thread Collage on thick 140gsm watercolor paper, signed & dated by me.
