I love the complexity and patterns of city plans! It's fascinating to roam with your eye over the different grids, to notice how they may or may not reflect the topography, to consider which came first and later. Explore Philadelphia's iconic plan with your eyes! Centered on the original William Penn plan, including City Hall and the first four squares, Rittenhouse, Logan, Washington and Franklin, the map stretches north to Jefferson Street and south to about Morris Street. The city center is cradled between the great Delaware River with its docks and the scenic Schuykill. The map is rotated to show off Penn's grid in straight parallel and perpendicular streets and squares.
