It's fascinating to roam with your eye over the different grids, to notice how they may or may not reflect the topography, to consider which came first and later. The Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, Marin, Presidio, Ghirardelli, Coit Tower, TransAmerica, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Chinatown, Lombard Street, the amazing farmers markets, Golden Gate Park, Haight-Ashbury, the Painted Ladies are all captured within my original watercolor map. San Francisco's city block patterns reveal the undulating landscape that enfolds all of these iconic sites upon a remarkable peninsula.
