BUFFALO, New York. Lake Erie, Niagara River and a sliver of Canada at the western edge, focusing on the shoreline of Buffalo. Downtown, Forest Lawn and the Zoo, the Science Museum. The city's beaux-arts classicism is apparent not only in its architecture and "emerald necklace" of Olmsted parks but in some of its street patterns, oriented toward views and boulevard promenades.
The URBAN BURDEN Collection, is a Contemplation of the layers upon layers of a city block: soil, rock, garbage, treasures, plate tectonics, wind, water, glacial scrapes, urban design, acts of violence, acts of redemption, delight, kindness. Each block is a site of burden, accumulation of the millenia of natural forces and habitation.
